SHORT GUIDE to an Air-Cooled Remanufactured Engine from ImportMotor:Engine case is professionally cleaned, including all oil galleys, and inspected for any possible flaws.
Every engine case is align-bored and hi-tech steel case stud inserts are installed. (1600-2332cc engines)
All crankshafts are reground using original factory units. They are side-clearanced and micro-polished. All thread holes are rechased to perfection.
A matched and balanced set of fully remanufactured connecting rods are installed.
Remanufactured camshaft and lifters are installed.
All new main, rod and camshaft bearings.
All pistons, rings and wrist pins are new.
Cylinder heads are totally remanufactured. We use premium valve seats and maganese-bronze valve guides.
Valve seats are finished with a three-angle performance profile. Cylinder heads are leak-tested before engine assembly.
Flywheel is furnished and is new or remanufactured. Proper crankshaft end-play is set.
New or remanufactured oil pump is installed.
Every engine is individually assembled by a master engine technician.
Some remanufactured engine components or products may be NEW .. specified in Descriptions.
As our final insurance step ... engines are placed into our custom test-cell. They are actually 'fired up' and run!
It's as if we installed the engine into 'Our Car' .. before you install it into 'Your Car'!
Our extensive 25 point testing includes documentation of cylinder compression, oil pressure, thorough inspection for any possible oil leaks and unusual noises of any kind. You get an engine without possible flaws!
Turnkey Motors are 'Double-Tested! .. Once in its Longblock Engine form and AGAIN in its final Turnkey Motor state!

Ask any knowledgeable VW mechanic about rebuilt engines and they will probably give you a list of horror stories a mile long. The truth is, there are a number of companies that take so many shortcuts it seems unethical to call their engines "rebuilt" .. much less REMANUFACTURED.!|
SOME OF THE FAVORITE 'TRICKS' OF THESE SO-CALLED 'REBUILDERS':
Washing off the engine case and checking align-bore visually instead of a precision measurement. Only visually checking for possible cracks. Forgetting to clean all oil galleys.
Using the same crankshaft over, but giving it a quick polish.
Using the same connecting rods over. Not replacing the wrist pin bushings. Not checking for straightness and balance.
Using the old camshaft and/or lifters. Lobe wear not considered.
Just doing a 'ring job' .. using the old pistons, cylinders and wrist pins.
Doing just a 'valve job' on the old cylinder heads. Using original valves, the old valve guides and installing heads without a precision resurfacing.
Returning the motor to you without actually 'firing it up' so it can be accurately tested.
MOST LIKELY .. YOU'LL BE GIVING THEM A PHONE CALL LATER!
These are a few of the common shortcuts. There are many others! When you buy an engine with any of these drawbacks, you're asking for trouble!
Like .. WHEN THE WARRANTY RUNS OUT ..SO WILL THE ENGINE! .. Maybe the mechanic!
